Whistler Pro 68 :
by Digg

This device starts at $129.99. It is a Laser Radar Detector. It is called The Whistler Pro 68. It allows the driver to be able to relax and drive confident. This Pro 68 is a protection system that is not only good for preventing speeding tickets but also driving hazards.
I like this device because I am a nervous wreck when i see cop cars around. I get nervous with the speed limits also. It is also good because it will tell you if there is a driving hazard near by so that you can avoid those streets and go a different direction.

Screw-less folding chair:
by hipstomp

This is designed by a Taiwanese student duo Fang Po-hsiung and teacher Chen Chun-tung from Shu-Te University. There are no screws that are used as it is being put together and not in the design (finished product) as well. It it made from gas-injected polypropylene and has won an award of Red Dot in the category Design Concept.

This chair seems really cool, though I am curious to know about the sound, if it squeeks or if it is quit when folded or unfolded. I like the fact that there are no screws in the chair because you wouldnt have to worry about any falling out.

Gum Packaging :
by hipstomp

Kyle Gati came up with a new way to package gum and leave the other plastic raps behind. He has thought of how extra materials can cause problems and thought of a simpler way to peel of a pack of gum. His idea was to have each pack stick together and have an easy peel off. There is no extra plastic in the way and no packs of gum all over the place. I like this idea because i find it very neat and simple and you are not wasting other plastics to hold the other packs in place.

Gag-Gift Keyboard and Speakers
by Hipstomp

They came out with a keyboard and called it "Keyboard for blondes." This to me, though I am not blonde, is insulting in ways, but pretty funny at the same time. On the keyboard there are words next to some of the letters. For example the letter "O" says OMG and the Enter key says "Yes, I want it." The keyboard also comes in the color pink.
The "Giant Earbud Speakers," is also funny because of how small they they've been making ipods and also how headphones can be a bigger size.

Ice Instruments: The coolest wa to make music

by Brit Leissler

Terjie Isungset, a Norwegian percussionis for many years has put varied together organic sounds and create music and instruments. His has included the sounds from naturally found wood, metal objects, stone, and also industrial machines. He puts this all together in the creating varities of musical works. He designs instruments that are ice instruments, made from solid blocks of ice and some of teh ice is over 450 years old glacier ice. He has the talent to not only carve the ice into instruments but also he uses his creation to produce beautiful outstanding recordings of sounds of ethereal and also music that is under severe and extreme conditions.

The instruments are fragile and has a very quiet sound production. He has done many concerts befor, including in London. To here what his instruments sound like, Isungset has them available on his website.

This guy definitly has a lot of talent. Every day we make music and we ma not even realize it. We make or here sounds every second of our lives. We make beats with our hands and feet. Isungset actually came up with an idea that probably no one ever thought of. To actually carve out the shape of an instrument using ice and playing is very unique.

Fabric Salad Spinner:
by Core77 : Gift Guide

This is an easy neat way to shake up your salad. You have have fun with it by throwing it up, spinning it around. It is just a easier and cleaner way to toss you salad. To me it looks like it can get exhausting, but then again its is not messy and it also seems to get the job done. I am also sure that you are able to mix around anything other than salad in the fabric spinner and you are also exercising your arms and body at the same time, so it is a good work out.

VirtualEShopping.com creates malls without walls:

by Alana Semuels

Some people may not like going shopping in Malls because of the smells from the food court or perfume, the garages and the traffic jams. In Louisville,KY they created that are virtual and on the computer.

The website is VirtualEShopping.com. It has created 250 3-D shopping malls, which are complete with sales bots (robots) and also kiosks shilling goods. There are malls made for women, malls made for men, also malls that are made for teens and malls for people who live in a city like Los Angeles.

The shoppers can wander around in the mall and pass by the crazy busy stores such as, Macy's, Starbucks, and Walmart. But, the site isnt made for the shoppers to actually go into the stores yet. The mall is now just built with storefronts, and when the shopper clicks on a storefront of their choice, they can be transported to the website of that company.

UGLY: How Unorthodox Thinking Will Save Design, by Tad Toulis
by core jr

This article talks about creating and designing and how it comes from ones attitude. This designers artworks is framed as "ugly" pieces, but they do have meaning and may be appealing in their eyes. These designs may represent prejudice from the past and restrictions.
Beauty on the other hand is based on the popular opinion and it lies in the eyes of the "beholder" person and is more predictable of achieving beauty.
The acceptance of and UGLY artwork is now reasonable in design and brings interesting potential when the work that was done has gone through a challenge.

I am very into art and sculpture myself. I like to examine artworks and share what i see in the piece. I never found an art piece to be ugly. I understand that their is meaning for every detail shown.

Milton Glaser

Milton Glaser Draft
One of the most famous graphic designers is Milton Glaser, who continues to live on today. His is also known to be an illustrator and teacher as well. He attended High School for music and art in New York City and graduated Cooper Union in 1951. Later in the years, he got a Fulbright Scholarship, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. By 1954, Glaser was the creator, and president, of Push Pin Studios along with a few of his classmates from Cooper Union.
Glaser’s works have been distinguished by directness, minimalism and innovation. He uses several medium and style when it comes to solving a problem at hand. His technique varies rowdily from primordial to an ultramodern look with his works such as in his innumerable book jackets, to his album covers, his advertisements, direct mail pieces and also magazine illustrations. Glaser’s artwork also involves a variety of shapes and color.
When Glaser was in High School he started designing in a class called printing graphics. In 1974, he then began his own studio. By doing this it advantaged his association with an ever more wide assortment of projects, scoping from the New York Magazine designs, which led him to be co-founder of a 600 foot mural in Indianapolis for the Federal Office Building.
All through Glaser’s profession he has contained major influence on his modern illustrations and designs. He has won several awards as of Art Directors Clubs, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts and also, the Society of Illustrators and the type Directors Club, as well. He was known as Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1979.
Glaser’s creations have been known as some of the most influential and durable visual arts in present time. Some of his famous works are the “I LOVE NEW YORK LOGO,” that has been printed as signs and on T-shirts. In 1967 he created a famous Bob Dylan poster and his masterful graphics for Dante’s Purgatory. He has created more than 300 posters, environmental and interior design. He has produced Displays, interiors and exteriors of many restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls, hotels, and supplement retail and commercial atmospheres. He has a personal satisfaction in his work that a celebrity poster such as Bob Dylan may encourage people to go to a concert and buy an album. A unique decorative theme may encourage dining at a certain restaurant and catchy images may enhance sales for an advertiser. His logo I Love NY became a symbol of a city as well.
In 1975 through 1977, Milton was the design executive of ‘Village Voice’ magazine. By 1983, he originated the corporation WBMG, which is a studio devoted to magazine and newspaper project work with Walter Bernard.

Milton believes that the life of designer is very great deal of deep feeling between the life of a businessman and the verve of an artist. He feels that art carries out an appeasing function in ones way of life. He also feels that it is important to share commonalities. This then can prevent us from searching for the negatives and being us together to share what we agree upon. Art is a role in times past and he believes that the artist is sending gift or message to share with everyone. With our acceptance to these art works are remained to be past on and still exist today as psychical and mental imagery. Through art he has the ability to transfer ideas to one another. Art is a way for him to solve situations and combine things together. For him it is easier to accomplish something by using his art talent. He supposed that if a person can continue in their interest right through life, they are a very privileged person.
On his outlook the leeway of learning never fade away and that there is something as regards to the act itself. When you work with art you become lively and energized. You are in control because it is in you own mind and hands. Your emotions of what you are feeling at that moment also come expose as well. He believes that in this field people can keep on learning, they will grow, and always come across challenging themselves.
Now his work has been incorporated in the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Israel Museum and the Musee de l’affiche, in the city Paris. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts and also at Cooper Union and is also a member of Alliance Graphique International. His ability to teach has helped him simplify his own objectives as well.
“ If graphic design has a grand master, then Milton Glaser is Michelangelo.” was said by another graphic designer by the name of Chip Kid(http://www.believermag.com). Here the analogy says it all. This graphic designer is saying in this quote that Milton Glaser has to be the best graphic designer of all time with the work that he has created to share with us, because that is where Michelangelo stands in our minds today.
If it weren’t for the talented rewarded and inspiring Milton Glaser, many of the creations we spot here and there wouldn’t be with us today or at least his style and imagination. He has designed such wonderful art works that have been around for many years ago.

Electronic rivals want to eliminate cables: Sony, Samsung, and others to create
HD wireless standard

Corporations have come together and came up with an idea to develop an industry standard around technology and create WHDI, for Wireless Home Digital Interface. This means that a people would be able to their television into any room in the house and watch their favorite program. This TV will have access to any source in your home. It can be interacted with a set-top box in one room and a PlayStation system in another room, or even a DVD player as well.
This technical idea comes from Amimon Ltd. of Israel. Aminon is already selling parts of this creation, but broad industry groupies makes it that more likely consumers will buy WHDI-enabled devices from other manufacturers where everything will work together.Noam Geri, the co-founder of Amimon expects that the televisions with Amimon's pieces will reach many shops by next year at a price costing $100 more than those non-wireless Television sets.

I am someone who can not keep my eyes of the tv. I would love to carry around a tv and to be able to bring it room to room is very helpful for someone who may not have TiVo in a specific room. This is great for when you want to relax in the bath tube as well.

Flying Car or Drivable Plane?

Terrafugia
by: Squee.gee
This article is about a transportation figure that can both drive and fly. It is shaped like a small airplane with its wings, and once it lands on the ground it turns into a car. It was designed from Light Sport Aircraft and they thought of an idea for it to be legally street proved as well. The transition for the LSA has to weigh about 1,300 lbs.It is 500 lbs less then a the smart car.

This definitely saves peoples money to go on trips and is obviously easy transportation. It is awesome to actually not just have your own plane but be able to park it in your garage as well. I remember years ago when I heard about flying cars being created in the future. It was very hard to believe because I couldn't think of how it would be possible. They proved their point that it is possible and it finally as been created. It actually reminds me of the fictional Batmobile accept it's not that sharp looking and much cheaper in its price.

The Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer
by: Michael Artsis
This is a printer that works on batteries and the only thing that has to be replaced is the glossy paper. There is no ink cartridge necessary either. It is easy to carry around. Here is how it works. You take a picture using you mobile phone and send to the printer in your phone options. The printer will receive the image shot instantly and print out with no wires required. This idea has replace the old fashioned Polaroid camera that printed out the picture instantly, then had to be shaken to get its color.
I think the printer is a great thing to had. It is very easy to throw in your bag is bring around where ever you go. You can print pictures at anytime. Who wants to wait to develop picture or run to a computer to download your picture when you can send a picture to to a printer and receive it instantly as the spot you are standing in.

Using Video Games as Bait to Hook Readers

PJ Haarsma designed a game from a novel reading. This was his idea for preteens be easy educated. It is used as a learning tool with a twist of fun. For those who may struggle on pick up a book and would rather play a video game. This is great for them. This game is set up in a way where questions are asked in each level. He feels that combinding a video game with a novel can
be very helpful for the learner, because they are being able to watch the action and be apart it. They are able to get a sense of the story and can learn it quicker. Now schools are trying to do the same in finding an easier way for the student to learn and actually be interested as they are doing. The article mentions that recently the Pew Internet & American Life project concluded that 97% of preteenager from ages 12 through 17 play games on computers, handheld devices, and consoles. Comparing the reader and the novel to the gamer and the video game, both learners are looking to play the same role which is to become the character.

I think this idea of combinding video games and novels together is a brilliant and very helpful idea. Not only would these video games give the person energetic pleaure, but the gamer is learning at the same time. Not only do they take novels and books and turn them into video games but also in the past few years they have turned all subject matter into electronic devices.
I remember when they came out with Hooked On Phonics. This electronic worked with a voice machine and was a fun learning tool, but was more like a writting tool with not live imagery. Video games these days are still sidetracking but some accomplish a great education and are worth it.
I am one who always finds it easier to see imagery as i study the work. Seeing the picture helps me a lot and gives me a better understanding.I wish they had come up with this idea back when i was a preteen.

I have a Digital Photo Frame and I recommend one to everybody. It is very easy to use. All you have to do is transfer images from either your cellphone or computer to the frame. You can add as many pictures as you want.
What it is is a slide show of your pictures. You don't just have to stare at one picture all the time. Walk in and out of a room and you'll see a new picture appear on the screen. It is great to have around when you have company. I remember the first time i saw one it caught my attention. Having many picture frames around the house my be special to place all over the house, but doesn't having many picture in one sound neat? It's entertainment will definitely put a smile on you and your guests face.

Teen exercising may cut breast cancer risk:

Exercising is a very important activity that everyone must do in order to stay healthy. Not only does working out help you stay in good body shape but it also prevents breast cancer. It is also best to start working out at a young age. This article particularly discusses how it is important for young females to start working out around the age of 12 and it will prevent the breast cancer at the time they are grown. Your body is something you can control and you should take care of it at your best. Think about it, people who are healthy live longer and get less sick. But it is important not to over do it. They say that physical activity can lower estrogen levels. If girls are to intense with working out the may end up having problems with your menstrual cycle.

I tried going to the gym at the age of 15. When I went I did not like it. I thought it was very tiring and sometimes i couldnt continue after 5 counts. So I thought of other ways to get exercise like run around, play sports, walk around the neighorhood, and take dance classes. Later on in the years I have continued that routine and also have forced my way to the gym as well. I realize the reason why I now can go to the gym and be sucessful is because I gave myself that energy by doing the other activies. I am still young today, but I also know that I am very healthy and I am in good shape.

Don’t Buy That Textbook, Download It Free:

What computers can do these days it is amazing. Just a few clicks and you have what you need. We are always looking for programs that are free to use and the computer is where all of that is stored. Student at universities are paying so much money to "borrow" the textbooks needed for class and when they want to return them they get much less money then when they paid for them. In the article they compare textbooks to drugs. Why? Because of the price and also to be humorous " They both make money from doing obvious good — healing, educating."
Being a Hofstra student I find it very unfair that I've paid $130.00 for a book and when i returned it I nly got 14 dollars back. Sometimes they wouldnt even except a book back. When i found this article it made me happier because it said that you can download a textbook for free on the computer.
Now teachers are making it easier for students to read by using programs such as E-Reserve and transfer articles onto PowerPoint as well. It is definitely easier to use because you can change the fonts around and make it look at your best in a way that is comfortable for you. Also now people have made websites where they get money just by someone clicking into their website.
The internet is very quick and you can complete a scrpit in 3 hours compared to having to make a textbook by hand, which could take years.
Im not saying that this is good for everyone because there are people out there trying to make money off these book, but it makes things so much easier and it is not like the student will have the excuse " The bookstore ran out." This way everyone can afford a copy and there is "enough scrolling" for everybody.

It is amazing what computer technology can do this day and age. Anyone can take a photo of themselves with the built in camera option, but in that built in camera there is hidden access as well. I found it very interesting that the program Leopard has a remote access to transform into a security scan. Kait Duplaga, who had installed this program, had her laptop stolen and fortunately had it returned back to her. Cops were able to capture the suspect with help from the program Leopard. The program worked immediately after the suspect turned on the computer. People use computers now as if utensils and paper wasn't around anymore, basically storing our lives. Many are being stolen in places such as college dorms and so on. I think Leopard is a great security program to catch that other person if ever your computer is ever stolen.

Blog Comment on Tattoo Art: A Bloody Tattoo Convention Gallery

The decision to decorate ones body must be a careful one when contemplating the art of tattooing.  This article explains the wide variety of techniques of this ancient taboo. The broad range of tattooing can be as simple as a small heart to intricate full body creations. For the indecisive one tattooing in the form of Henna can be applied and painlessly removed if dissatisfied. People are using their skin as canvas to immortalize their favorite images. As for young children, many were introduced to body decoration in the form of stickers at a very early age.  As much as I love art, the thought of the pain and finality of the image deters me from the art of tattoo.

CoCo Chanel

In the early 1900s, Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, was a fashion icon with unique styles and cutting edge fashion. She was a premier fashion designer in Paris, France. Around the times that women had no rights, she became a legend and was very successful. Her creative thoughts and ideas gave women a feeling of liberation. Her clothes may have caused controversy, but her goal was to send out a message to all women, which was to "stand up" for  their beliefs. Her innovations included clothing, such as sportswear and suits, costume jewelry, perfume, such as Chanel No.5, along with handbags and shoes. Today the Chanel company continues to thrive. In the year of 1955 Life magazine put Chanel on its cover stating what a revolution Coco Chanel has created with her clothing that successful women could wear.

The "Little Black Dress,"was introduced in 1926. It represented a dress that could be suitable for any occasion that women can either dress up or dress down according to their needs without having to buy a new dress. The Chanel suit was a symbol of luxury. It was always designed with expensive fabrics that were tailored to show off a women's figure, but yet to be comfortable. She paid a lot of attention to small details. The "Sling-back Pump," which was beige and black was another iconic piece along with the "Quilted Shoulder Bag." The richest women shopped in her boutiques in Paris. Her clients included many celebrities. The Chanel No.5 perfume became one of the most famous perfumes in the early 1920s. The bottle had an Art Deco style which was different then any perfume bottles before it. It allowed women of lower income to feel that they can be apart of Coco Chanel's creations. The perfume was a leading factor in her success. In 1939 Chanel closed down her clothing business due to the WWII, but continued the sales of her perfume.

Through the years her styles have remained timeless. She helped women to look and feel confident. Coco Chanel was not only one of the greatest couturiers of the 20th century, but she was also known for her sharp business sense. At one time she managed four separate enterprises including a text tile factory perfume laboratories, her couture house and a separate site where costume jewelry was manufactured. She had a profound influence of fashion for over 20 years. In 1983 Karl Lagerfeld  took over as Chief Designer for the "House of Chanel." He remains in that position today. Today the Chanel company continues its success being in the forefront of fashion. Chanel remains a constant and never seems to go out of fashion. CoCo Chanel continues to fascinate the public. She is a legend that continues to live on.
